71 Students At Dormaa Presby Nursing School Repeated Over Poor Performance

The Dormaa Presbyterian Nursing and Midwifery College in the Bono Region has repeated seventy-one (71) first-year students due to poor academic performance, with reported Grade Point Averages (GPAs) falling below 1.0.

Dr. Agyeman-Prempeh Charles, the Principal of Dormaa Presbyterian Nursing and Midwifery Training College, clarified that this decision aims to offer these students a chance to enhance their academic performance and align with their peers.

He emphasized that the repetition is part of the college’s commitment to nurturing competent nurses and midwives for the future by maintaining high academic standards. The principal highlighted the importance of adhering to rules and regulations, including the requirement of a cumulative grade point above 1.0 for progression from the first year to the second year.

In defending the decision, Dr. Agyeman-Prempeh Charles stated, “If we are training students to save lives, then it is better to ensure they are repeated to improve learning outcomes. I have not dismissed any student,” underscoring the college’s dedication to excellence in nursing and midwifery education and the significance of academic achievement in shaping future healthcare practitioners.
