WAEC Releases 2023 WASSCE Results

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 2023 Ghana-only version of WASSCE for school candidates. In a press statement dated December 18, 2023, WAEC announced that it would provide login details to heads of schools for accessing candidate results, marking the best performance in the last four years (2020-2023).

Candidates can view their results on the Council’s website, but 4,878 candidates faced result blocks for not returning learning support materials. WAEC warned against fraudulent promises of result upgrades and emphasized the security and authenticity of its results verification system using the WAEC QR code.

Irregularities led to the cancellation of subject results for 3,647 candidates for bringing foreign materials into exam halls and the entire results for 839 candidates due to mobile phone possession. The results of 4,280 candidates’ subjects and 1,005 candidates in entirety were withheld for suspected offenses.

The examination involved 448,674 candidates from 975 schools, a 5.8% increase from 2022. After investigations, WAEC approved the cancellation of subject results for 3,647 candidates and entire results for 839 candidates. Additionally, results for 4,280 subjects and 1,005 candidates were withheld for various suspected offenses.

Some subject results from 235 schools are withheld for collusion and AI-generated answers pending investigation, with outcomes determining release or cancellation of these results.
