Ghanaians Don’t Want A Running Mate Who Is Arrogant, Violent And Lacks Dedication- Analyst

Ghanaians, according to political expert Emmanuel Kofi Nti, value humility, discipline, and peaceability in a running mate even more than the ability to complement the presidential candidate. He added that a number of factors, such as the party’s influence on succession, regional balance, trust, competency, and age, will affect the choice of a running partner.

“Ghanaians prefer someone who is humble and not arrogant, reserved and not violent, and understands issues, so these things must be considered when choosing a running mate.”
He was reacting to the infighting within the party over who would be Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s vice president.
He elaborated that the new running companion should be someone with a constituency and the ability to win over undecided voters. Although there are a lot of elements at play, the party affects the choice of the next running mate.
According to him, the NDC, for example, has a clear mechanism in place to nurture the next presidential candidate, while the NPP has no such system beyond succession.
Dr. Bawumia, he said, would consider his potential successor for president if he were a contender, and he might factor in that person’s age. The analyst also mentioned that the running mate should be resourceful and committed, as they will be in charge of the economic management team if you win. An economic boost requires a leader who can see things from several angles.
