Ghana captain Andre Ayew signs for Ligue 1 side Le Havre

Reports indicate that Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew, has made a return to France, joining Ligue 1 side Le Havre. The 33-year-old, who left Nottingham Forest at the conclusion of the previous season, is set to sign a contract with the club until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The announcement of his membership in the team is expected later today after finalizing the deal on Saturday.

This development holds significance for Black Stars fans, especially with the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast just over a month away. Leveraging his extensive experience in Ligue 1, Ayew aims to contribute to Le Havre’s position in the league, drawing on his previous stint with Olympique Marseille.

Having rejoined the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and the Comoros Islands, Ayew’s return to France marks a notable transition after leaving Olympique Marseille in 2015 to join Swansea City. The seasoned midfielder’s wealth of experience is anticipated to bolster Le Havre, currently occupying the sixth spot in the Ligue 1 standings after 12 games.

Ayew’s professional journey includes spells in England with West Ham United, Swansea City, and Nottingham Forest. Additionally, he played for Fenerbahce in Turkey and Al Sadd in Qatar during intervals between his stints in the Premier League.

Ghana has recently included Ayew in their squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros this month.
