John Boadu Gets Government Appointment

In a recent development at the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), John Boadu, former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been appointed as the acting Director General, succeeding Hollistar Duah-Yentumi. Duah-Yentumi had been serving as the acting Director-General since November 20, 2023.

Previously the General Manager in charge of Operations at SIGA since its inception in 2019, Ms. Duah-Yentumi assumed the acting role when Ambassador Edward Boateng retired after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60. Ambassador Boateng, who turned 60 in June 2023, was granted an extension until November 2023.

John Boadu’s appointment was officially announced through a letter dated December 11, 2023, signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante. According to the letter, Boadu’s appointment is in line with Section 17 (2) of the State Interests and Governance Authority Act, 2019 (Act 990). The President appointed Boadu as the acting Director General pending the constitutionally required advice of the governing Board of SIGA, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

Confirming his receipt of the appointment letter, Mr. John Boadu expressed his commitment to working collaboratively with SIGA staff and heads of various institutions under SIGA to enhance profitability.

SIGA, a public institution, is tasked with facilitating performance management in State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and other prescribed bodies, ensuring their efficient, effective, and profitable operation, contributing to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
