Police officer commits suicide after mistakenly killing colleague during arrest

While trying to apprehend a suspect in Rivers State, a police inspector named Nelson Abuante tragically killed his colleague, Inspector Monday Gbaramana. Abuante then took his own life. The terrible tragedy took place at Nyogor-Lueku, Khana Local Government Area, on Sunday afternoon, December 17.

Rumor has it that two officers from Taabaa Division traveled to Nyogor-Lueku in order to apprehend Mr. Akere Akpobari, who allegedly has some grievances with his mother. Because Mr. Akere fought arrest, the two inspectors had to resort to physical force. Inspector Nelson Abuante shot Gbaramana by accident, causing him serious injuries, during the confrontation. One insider informed Punch that Abuante and Akere’s mom attempted to take the wounded policemen to the hospital as soon as possible. Inspector Monday lost his life when the automobile carrying them ran out of gas on the route to the hospital.
“Abuante took his own life the moment he learned of his colleague’s death,” the person continued. The mortuary had received the two policemen’s corpses for the purpose of conducting autopsies.
Grace Iringe-Koko, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, verified the occurrence with the media. The incident is still under investigation, according to Inringe-Koko.  Yes, that incidence did occur. She stated that they are conducting an investigation to determine the truth.
