I Regret Graduating With A First Class And Being The Best Graduating Student Of My Department – Nigerian Lady Says

A Nigerian woman expressed her remorse at being the top student in her graduation class. The young woman claims that she neglected her social life in favor of her studies. She mentioned she has graduated and has no social skills or any type of network, as she did not engage with even her peers while in school. Having ”connections” in Nigeria, she noted, is crucial. The woman who majored in sociology at a private university emphasized the importance of striking a balance between schoolwork and extracurricular activities.

Hassan: This one is just a performance skit. I don’t think she’s serious; no 1st class graduate will behave this way. Does it mean she can’t get a common scholarship to further study abroad? This skit is just a trick to discourage serious students; it’s another way of saying, “Who will help?”Eagle: Its Nigeria that has caused you and many more of their rightful position in society, which rewards mediocrity and not meritocracy. You have done well by coming out on top in your class. Another normal scourge will reward you. Throw your net into other oceans.
Zodiac: Your statement actually shows you are good academically but not intelligent. An intelligent person would see having a first class as a disadvantage because he or she did not have connections. The advantage of having a first class in itself has its own advantage, which you just don’t value because of your limited intelligence.
Adeopa: But you have actualized your primary task. You can now begin to socialize and go about your secondary assignments, which are socializing, networking, and other stuff. Stop blaming yourself, but start giving thanks to God for helping you achieve the desired grade.
